As the Jubilee Year of Hope continues to unfold, St. Augustine Cathedral welcomed a sea of young pilgrims from Balaka, Nsanama, and Koche Parishes on March 29. The group, comprising over 200 youths under the care of the Canossian Sisters, embarked on a spiritual journey to deepen their faith and connection with the Lord.
The day’s festivities began with a vibrant procession from the main roundabout in Mangochi Boma to the Cathedral, where the youths entered through the Holy Door, a symbol of spiritual renewal and reconciliation.
In his inspiring talk, themed “Year of the Jubilee, Youth as Pilgrims of Hope,” the Vicar General, who also serves as Parish Priest of St. Augustine Cathedral, encouraged the youths to intensify their spiritual lives during this Jubilee Year. “As Pilgrims of Hope, you are called to embark on a journey of spiritual growth, seeking a deeper encounter with Christ,” he emphasized.
The Vicar General also commended the Canossian Sisters for organizing the pilgrimage, saying, “This gesture demonstrates that our youth are not mere spectators, but active participants in the Jubilee celebrations, embracing their role as Pilgrims of Hope.”
The event continued with individual confessions, offering the youths an opportunity for spiritual cleansing and renewal. The day culminated in the celebration of the Holy Mass, led by the Vicar General.
As one of the designated Holy places in the Diocese of Mangochi, St. Augustine Cathedral serves as a light of hope and spiritual growth, inviting faithful Christians from across the diocese to seek special blessings and indulgences during this Jubilee Year.
