St. Augustine, Mangochi – In a majestic display of faith and fraternity, the National Catholic Men Association (CMA) jubilee celebrations kicked off the evening of Friday, March 21, 2025 at the iconic St. Augustine Cathedral, nestled in the heart of the Diocese of Mangochi.
As the sun dipped into the horizon, at the cathedral’s majestic structure, over 1,500 Catholic men from all eight dioceses in Malawi converged in a spirit of unity and devotion. This remarkable gathering is expected to swell in numbers, with more brothers anticipated to arrive on Saturday, 22nd March 2025, eager to partake in the jubilant celebrations.
Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima, the hosting Bishop of the Diocese of Mangochi, delivering a heartfelt welcoming remark, eloquently underscored the significance of the gathering as an integral aspect of evangelization, emphasizing the importance of spreading the Good News.
Expressing his profound gratitude, Bishop Stima warmly acknowledged the distinguished presence of His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa, of Archdiocese of Blantyre, and His Lordship Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima, of Diocese of Zomba. He described the occasion as a “precious moment” for all men, aptly characterizing it as a transformative experience.
The gathering featured two insightful talks, the first of which was delivered by Fr. Dr. Joseph Kimu, the Director of Radio Maria Malawi. Focusing on the theme “CMA with St. Joseph as Pilgrims of Hope,” Fr. Kimu masterfully wove together the exemplary virtues of St. Joseph, highlighting his attributes as a just man, a symbol of hope, and a chaste person. Fr. Kimu’s thought-provoking presentation served as a clarion call to Catholic men, encouraging them to emulate St. Joseph’s remarkable qualities and become symbols of hope amidst life’s challenges.
The second presentation, delivered by Mr. Edmund Emmanuel Hagrela from Chikwawa, shed light on the crucial topic of mental health. This enlightening talk provided valuable insights and practical advice, empowering Catholic men to navigate the complexities of mental wellness and cultivate a deeper understanding of this vital aspect of human flourishing.
As the National Catholic Men’s Association jubilee celebrations continue to unfold, the next proceedings promise to be a spiritual crescendo, marked by a series of enlightening talks and culminating in the sublime celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
