Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima- the Bishop of the Diocese of Mangochi- has reminded Christians in the country to keep their faith strong as they have received free salvation from God. He spoke this during the Vigil mass of Holy Saturday at St Augustine’s Cathedral as Christians were anticipating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The celebration started outside the church in darkness where there was fire which symbolizes the dispelling of the darkness of sin.
In his homily, the bishop reflected on the gospel account of the three women who visited the empty tomb of Jesus, who on their way they were worried about the one to roll the stone from the tomb for them. Suddenly, they came with joyful message that Jesus has risen. He therefore reminded Christians that the stone is an overwhelming obstacle in our lives which can prevent us from serving God freely. Therefore, we should keep our faith strong without doubting since God redeemed us from perils of this life.
There was also a baptism of catechumens. Remarking on this event, the bishop reminded Christians to keep the promises they made during their baptism and the risen Christ should be made manifest in our lives by showing morals.
