The final whistle of the training for the coordinators of diocesan commissions of the diocese of Mangochi was blown, in order for them to go out and start hunting resources for the running of the diocese. It was a week training, which started on 18th March and was closed on 22nd March 2024 at Mwema Lodge in Mangochi. Facilitated by Carsterns Mulume and Mr. Fidelis Chasukwa Mgowa, the workshop was organized by the Catholic Development Commission (CADECOM) of the diocese of Mangochi.
The Social Development Director, Rev. Dr. Raphael Mkuzi who represented the bishop, described the workshop as a way of unifying all commissions to work together in writing winning proposals to mobilize resources that will help the diocese to run its affairs. “The just ended workshop is a way of embracing the common mission and vision of our Diocese. Work therefore, towards the common goal. In unity, you will achieve,” said Fr. Mkuzi.
In an interview with one of the facilitators of the workshop of resource mobilization, Mr. Carsterns Mulume was thrilled to successfully finalize everything that was prepared within the days designated for it. He further said that the workshop has met the expectations of the participants in since they have been able to fill the logical framework as well as writing a conceptual analysis. “Now we have kicked the ball rolling. We are now looking forward to seeing the participants writing the good and winning proposals that will help the diocese in mobilizing resources,” said Mr. Mulume. Agreeing with Fr. Mkuzi, Mr. Mulume did not hesitate to say that working in isolation leads to devastation.
One of the participants, Mr. Felix Masamba, Diocesan Education Coordinator for the diocese of Mangochi said that he has learnt especially how to mobilize resources in collaboration with other commissions, for his commission and for the diocese at large.
The Diocese of Mangochi consists of different commissions which are under the Social Development Board such as the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), Catholic Health Commission, Catholic Education Commission and Catholic Development Commission of Malawi, (CADECOM). However, the two of the wings like Finance as well as Communications and Research departments were also incorporated.
