Catholic Men Organization (CMO) members conduct a two- days meeting

A lot of Catholic men in the diocese of Mangochi made a necessary noise in the streets on 15th April 2023 while travelling in their vehicles to Ulongwe Catholic parish with their slogan “CMO- let’s walk together” in their mouth. The diocese of Mangochi organized this meeting for Catholic men to meet at one place and reflect on their Christian life, specifically as the diocese clocks fifty years of existence since 1973.

On this day, the chaplain of Catholic Men Organization (CMO), Fr. Paul Rappozo gave a spiritual reflection based on removing sandals, so as to be sent by God. He said that before Moses was used by God, he was commanded to remove his sandals from his feet because he was standing on a holy place (Ex. 3:5). He commented that by attending this meeting, men really want to be used by God and what is remaining is to remove their sandals which are the sins of their life. In this case, the chaplain reminded them about the sacrament of confession and stop sinning as one way of being ready to be sent by God.

Fr. Medrick Mlava who is the Pastoral coordinator of the diocese of Mangochi was the second to give a talk. He said that as the diocese clocks fifty years of existence, it is the right time to reflect on their dedication to the church in the line of evangelization. It is time to reflect on their faith in God since the missionaries who came to spread the Good News to Malawi especially in the diocese of Mangochi had that as their main aim. He also advised men that in today’s world, technology should not take away the community life in the family. “You should ask yourselves if you like going to small Christian communities. Most parish priests complain that men do not like going to small Christian communities. Now, if you don’t like going there, it might be that you substitute it with something else. Can you say that you are ready to be sent by God?” asked Fr. Mlava.

This meeting is part of the preparation for the diocesan golden jubilee celebration to be held on 30th September, 2023. It was supposed to be held on 18th -19th March 2023, but there was a similar function at the National level. So, it was postponed to 15th -16th April, 2023.
