As days draw closer to the actual day of golden jubilee celebration of the Diocese of Mangochi, various church groups and committees are eventful, making relevant things move towards an accomplishment of it. Different church groups like Catholic Men Organization (CMO), Catholic Women Organization (CWO), the Youth and many more are holding recollections and other different spiritual activities both in the parishes and at the diocese level as they move slowly towards the actual golden jubilee celebration.
As a way of raising funds to further the preparations for this event, the fund-raising committee of the diocese of Mangochi has organized a dinner and dance fund-raising activity, which will be held in the Catholic Archdiocese of Blantyre. This will take place on 11th August, 2023 at Mount Soche hotel. Members of this fund-raising team are working hand in hand with those who are in the Archdiocese of Blantyre to make all arrangements ready for the success of this fundraising activity.
The diocese of Mangochi was created in 1973 and will be clocking fifty years of existence this year (2023). The journey towards this celebration was launched by Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima, bishop of the diocese of Mangochi on 10th December, 2022 by a symbolism of lighting a candle and cutting a ribbon and the actual celebration itself will take place at Mangochi football ground on 30th September 2023. The theme of this journey is: Mangochi Diocesan Golden Jubilee: An Opportunity for Spiritual, Pastoral Renewal and Social Economic Development; “So that you, too, may be living stones” (1 Peter 2:5).
